Creative Interruptions

Scope

Description:

This residency, part of the SSHRC-funded project At the Indo-Pakistan Border, and Beyond: Public Humanities Research and Practice at the Intersection with the Arts, was an enriching opportunity to engage with artists, scholars, and communities across India, Pakistan, and Canada. Hosted in collaboration with The Reach Gallery Museum (Abbotsford, BC) and the South Asian Canadian Histories Association, it explored themes of memory, heritage, Partition, and the lived realities of borders. Through exhibitions, workshops, and dialogue, the residency created space for re-imagining divided histories and fostering intercultural connections. It highlighted how creative practice and public humanities intersect to generate new forms of knowledge, encouraging critical reflection on the past while engaging diverse communities in the present.
