Descriptions:

This artwork builds on sketches of our home by my mother-in-law, Dr. Shabnam Syed Khan, an educationist and former Harvard professor. Her therapeutic drawings, born from years of insomnia, captured a once-warm household now vacant, finding light through crevices, doors, and plants growing despite time’s passage. These linear sketches reveal hidden narratives, expanding beyond personal catharsis. Inspired by Prof. Robert Kegan’s subject/object framework, I bring these private stories into public spaces, transforming them from drawings into objects—rigid metals, malleable fabrics—seeking meaning, connection, and healing. Through this, I extend our home into yours, bridging personal and collective memory
